Asda Alloa Staff Member Aids Diabetic Customer

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates a member of staff at the Asda store in Alloa who aided a diabetic customer whilst they were suffering from a life-threatening hypoglycaemic attack; understands that quick-thinking Jacqui Anderson, a checkout operator at the store, spotted the signs whilst on shift at the checkouts, noticing the signs before the customer themselves realised; further understands that she recalled that the customer was on their own and was starting to lean against the checkouts, looking unwell, and appearing to be about to drop to the floor; understands that whilst Jacqui stayed with the customer, she was aware that they were becoming weaker and not getting any better; believes that she gave the customer a sugary drink and that this began to restore their blood sugar levels, which prevented them from being in a potentially serious situation within a matter of minutes; notes that "hypo" attacks occur when a diabetic person’s blood sugar levels become too low, which can cause confusion, seizures, loss of consciousness and, if left untreated, can be life threatening; commends Jacqui on her quick thinking, and expresses its delight that the customer has made a full recovery.
