The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Cytochroma on being appointed as one of the 10 new Export Champions for Scotland in 2023; notes that life sciences company, Cytochroma, which was founded in 2017 and is based at Roslin, facilitates test safety and discovery of new drug leads in the largest commercially available stem cell library, and manufactures human iPSCs and derived multicellular hepatic and cardiac models that predict adverse reactions, de-risk drug development, and enhance clinical success; understands that the export champion role of Cytochroma will be to work closely with the Department for Business and Trade and Scottish Development International to help encourage more Scottish businesses to consider selling abroad, attend events and provide peer-to-peer export support to other businesses in its sector; commends the programme in that it was only in October 2022 that the first ever Export Champions for Scotland were selected, and that since then those 13 Export Champions have taken part in over 78 engagements; wishes Cytochroma the very best of success in its new role, and concurs with the comments of Lord Malcolm Offord, UK Government Minister for Scotland and Exports, in looking forward to the new, larger team of champions now covering an even broader range of sectors, sharing their success stories.
