Recognising the Bravery of Ryan Witkowski

The motion

That the Parliament commends Ryan Witkowski, a dedicated fireman from Scone and member of the White Watch at Perth Community Fire Station, for what it sees as his exceptional bravery and quick thinking while off-duty, leading to the successful rescue of eight people from a blazing three-storey tenement block in Perthshire; celebrates his well-deserved recognition with, it understands, the Brave@Heart award and the St Andrews Award Medal; notes the heartfelt sentiments from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) chief officer, Ross Haggart, applauding Ryan's courage and selflessness; recognises what it sees as the importance of the awards in highlighting acts of heroism across Scotland, with an emphasis on the contributions of the emergency services, and extends its gratitude to all individuals who, like Ryan, it believes go above and beyond their call of duty to safeguard the lives and wellbeing of their fellow Scots.
