Claire Taylor - Rural Rising Star

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates warmly Claire Taylor, from Ayrshire, on being named the Rural Rising Star at the Helping It Happen awards, which are organised by Scottish Land and Estates to honour people for outstanding work supporting the economy, jobs, education, wildlife and the environment in rural Scotland; understands that Claire was recognised for her specialist work in communications in agriculture, food and the rural environment; notes that the freelance journalist and writer has travelled around the world, having become a Nuffield farming scholar, including visits to Canada, New Zealand, Indonesia, Japan, Australia and, more recently, Africa; understands that she met with farmers, policy experts, lobbying bodies and private investors to understand the complexity of the challenges facing the agriculture sector, the programmes being rolled out and the investments being made to transform agri-food systems, and wishes her safe travels as she continues her academic journeys.
