80-year-old War Hero Raises £45,000 for Charity in Just Four Years

The motion

That the Parliament praises Craigshill resident, John Thompson, on his remarkable fundraising efforts for various charities over the past 50 years; understands that John, an 80-year-old former First Battalion Royal Highland Fusiliers piper, has raised tens of thousands of pounds for national, military and local charities in West Lothian and its communities; further understands that, over the last four years alone, he has raised £45,000; understands that he has taken on sponsored walks, swims and even abseiled down the Forth Road Bridge as part of his fundraising efforts; further understands that both Legion Scotland and Poppy Scotland, two of the charities that he has fundraised for, have extended their gratitude to John as his efforts have allowed these charities to continue to provide advice, help, support and assistance to veterans and their families all over Scotland, and wishes him continued success with his fundraising efforts.
