Farmers Weekly Arable Farmer of the Year 2023

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Neil White for winning the Farmers Weekly award for Arable Farmer of the Year 2023; understands that his farm in Berwickshire has focused on growing quality arable crops since 1999; notes that the innovative farming methods used on the farm have helped to reduce carbon emissions to 0.33kg of carbon dioxide equivalents/kg of produce; believes that the environment has benefitted from changes in farming methods, including not using insecticides and adding grass margins to fields; acknowledges that the farm has increased biodiversity, while retaining output levels and increasing soil quality, and wishes Neil and his fantastic agricultural business well for future.
