Marie Curie Services in Edinburgh and Lothian
The motion
That the Parliament recognises what it sees as the high quality palliative and end of life care that Marie Curie provides in the Lothian region; understands that, during 2022-23, around 8,815 people died in the Lothian region and 90% of them had a palliative care need, and that, across the region, 4,060 visits were made to 672 terminally ill people by the Marie Curie Hospice Care at Home Team; further understands that the Marie Curie Hospice Edinburgh and West Lothian service supported a total of 1,690 patients through inpatient, outpatient, community and day therapies services, and commends all the work done by Marie Curie to provide relief from pain and other symptoms of serious and terminal illness.
