West Lothian Wheelchair Basketball Coach Nominated for Community Coach of the Year for Children and Young People

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Tina Gordon, under-14s junior coach at Lothian Phoenix Wheelchair Basketball Club in Armadale, on her well-deserved nomination in the Community Coach of the Year for Children and Young People category at the 2023 UK Coaching Awards; understands that she has been nominated for her outstanding work in training young people with disabilities; understands her passion for coaching wheelchair basketball has spanned over 30 years, having previously coached at European, World and Paralympic level, from junior through to senior level, and that, for the past eight years she has shifted her focus to coaching young people with physical disabilities under the age of 14; notes her joy in celebrating how much sport can positively enhance young people’s lives, and how participation in wheelchair basketball develops the children’s confidence and helps them to become more independent outside of the basketball court, and wishes her every success at the award ceremony, which will take place in December.
