The motion

That the Parliament recognises that Scottish Interfaith Week 2023 is taking place from the 12 to 19 November, but with some events scheduled to take place from as early as 8 November; acknowledges that Scottish Interfaith Week encourages individuals, local interfaith groups and faith communities in Scotland to plan and host events to establish and strengthen collaborative working relationships between different religious groups and people who do not adhere to any particular faith; further acknowledges that Scottish Interfaith Week aims to improve awareness of the varied and individual faith communities in Scotland, to commend the contribution that people from all backgrounds make to their communities and wider society, and to improve understanding between people of religious and non-religious belief; understands that Scottish Interfaith Week was first established in 2004 and approximately 100 events are now taking place each year across Scotland; believes that positive dialogue between different religions and interfaith engagement are increasing in importance as society becomes more diverse; recognises what it sees as the central role played by Scottish Interfaith Week in taking forward such efforts; considers that tolerance and respect for everyone in society, irrespective of background, is vital, and that all attempts to strengthen positive interfaith relations are to be welcomed and encouraged.
