Whithorn Trust Wins Best Small Museum Award for Schools Engagement Project

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Whithorn Trust on winning the Best Small Museum Award for its Whithorn ReBuild Schools Engagement Project at the 2023 Museums Change Lives Awards in Gateshead; understands that the project supports a number of young people from Douglas Ewart High School in Newton Stewart to experience, sample and learn traditional construction skills that date back over 1,000 years, with these skills being taught by Whithorn ReBuild’s time-served masons and carpenters, as well as trainee masons and carpenters; welcomes the partnership support provided for this project by Whithorn Re-Build, Douglas Ewart High School and Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Youth Work Services; wishes all involved well for the project’s continued success, and further wishes the Whithorn Trust well in its continuing work to secure, support and promote the long history of Whithorn as one of Scotland’s earliest Christian settlements and its work to support Whithorn’s present-day community.
