Perth Star of the Airwaves Wins Top Volunteer Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Georgia Williams, from Perth, on winning the Volunteers Award at the recent Scottish Health Awards, which was run by the Daily Record newspaper in partnership with NHS Scotland and the Scottish Government; understands that Georgia, 28, who has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and is not able to talk unaided, has become a popular presenter at Hospital Radio Perth at Perth Royal Infirmary, now called Care Sound Radio, and became a co-host of the Tuesday request show, which also now goes out to care homes in NHS Tayside; notes that Georgia tours the hospital in a specially adapted wheelchair and asks patients for their favourite songs and adds them to her playlist; understands that Georgia recently trained to be a mentor to people who use communication devices, and also advises educational staff on inclusion and equality and how to cater for people with disabilities, and wishes Georgia all the best for the future.
