Stuart Hogg Named in King's New Year Honours

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Stuart Hogg on being named in His Majesty the King’s New Year Honours list; understands that the Borders-born former Scotland international rugby player has been appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to rugby union football; notes that, over the course of his career, he has made 190 appearances in club rugby, scoring 332 points, and has been capped for the Scotland first team 100 times; understands that the former Scotland full-back played a vital role in Scotland’s evolution in international rugby, achieving wins against those at the top of the Six Nations table on many occasions; notes that the Scottish rugby player has often returned to his roots and been involved with helping a number of local rugby clubs across the Borders, showing his community engagement, and wishes all those named in the Honours list well for 2024.
