Welcoming the Contribution of the Scotch Whisky Industry
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the contribution of the Scotch whisky industry to the Scottish economy; notes that the industry supports 41,000 jobs in Scotland; understands that in 2022, the industry generated £5.3 billion gross value added (GVA) in Scotland; further understands that this accounts for 3% of Scotland’s total GVA; notes that the industry accounts for 77% of Scottish food and drink exports, and recognises what it sees as the vital role of Scotch whisky distilleries, such as Glenkinchie Distillery, which supports tourism, agriculture and jobs in East Lothian.
