The motion

That the Parliament notes that what it sees as the UK’s leading end of life charity is calling on people in Clackmannanshire to support its Great Daffodil Appeal in March 2024 by giving up a few hours of their time to distribute the iconic daffodil pins in exchange for a donation; further notes reports suggesting that one in four people do not receive the end of life care that they need, and that Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal encourages people to donate and wear a daffodil pin to help the charity to continue to support people with any illness that they are likely to die from; understands that the charity’s flagship fundraiser, supported by its headline partner, Superdrug, helps to raise much needed funds for Marie Curie nurses and healthcare professionals to provide expert support and hospice care, either in people’s homes or at its two Scottish hospices; considers that Marie Curie is dependent on public donations and that, in 2023, supporters helped the charity provide direct care to more than 44,200 people across the UK through its nine hospices and overnight nursing care in people’s own homes, and encourages as much support as is possible for the charity’s Great Daffodil Appeal, which will be running from 1 to 31 March 2024.
