Gold for North East Youth Pair in Winter Youth Olympics
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Callie Soutar, who is 15 years old and from Forfar, and Ethan Brewster, who is 16 years old and from Aberdeen, on winning gold for Team GB in the curling mixed doubles at the Winter Youth Olympics in South Korea; understands that Team GB has had its best ever result at a Youth Winter Olympic Games, after winning a total of six medals; further understands that this was Team GB’s second gold, but that it is the first time a pair has won gold in the Olympic mixed doubles event; notes that the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics, officially known as the IV Winter Youth Olympic Games, was a winter, multi-sport event and cultural festival, which was held between 19 January and 1 February 2024, in Gangwon Province, South Korea; recognises the hard work, commitment and dedication from all involved to make it to Gangwon 2024, and wishes them every success in their sport for the future.
