Glasgow School Pupils Participate in Kids’ Athletics Day

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the 190 children between the ages of eight and 10, from six local schools in the east end of Glasgow, namely Haghill Primary School, Alexandra Parade Primary School, Golfhill Primary School, Carntyne Primary School, Barmulloch Primary School and St Denis's Primary School, who took part in a special athletics day ahead of the World Athletics Indoor Championships, which will be hosted in Glasgow in March 2024; notes that the Kids’ Athletics day, which was created by World Athletics, saw pupils participate in a series of adapted athletics, including the standing long jump, speed bounds, seated ball throw and group relay challenges; understands that pupils were joined by track and field Olympian, Eilidh Doyle, who is the official ambassador of the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships, and recognises that the Championships will take place at the Emirates Arena in Parkhead between 1 and 3 March, with over 650 competitors from more than 130 countries expected to take part, competing in 26 events.
