Fife Alcohol Support Service Receives £20,000 National Lottery Grant

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Fife Alcohol Support Service on receiving £20,000 from the National Lottery, which will help its ongoing work with families affected by foetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD); understands that the FASD Fife project helps those affected by the lifelong condition, which, it believes, can be the result of just one alcoholic drink during pregnancy; considers that Fife is one of very few areas to have this service available in the local area; recognises that FASD Fife will use the funding to facilitate peer support sessions, and to provide one-to-one support and education on the importance of the condition over the next 12 months; understands that, in the last year, the project has directly helped to improve life outcomes for many people affected in many ways, including supporting an affected adult to retain her job by working to implement reasonable adjustments within her employment, and helping a birthing mother to overcome her fear of stigmatisation, and wishes the project continued success in the years ahead.
