Sir James MacMillan Awarded the Ivors Academy Fellowship

The motion

That the Parliament applauds Sir James MacMillan, originally from Cumnock, for being awarded the Ivors Academy Fellowship; understands that the Fellowship is the highest honour bestowed by the Ivors Academy to recognise excellence in music creation; further understands that several notable names have received the Fellowship, including Sir Elton John and Annie Lennox; recognises that Sir James grew up in Cumnock and founded The Cumnock Tryst, an annual music festival, which, in 2024, celebrates its 10th anniversary; considers that this award recognises what it sees as the many musical achievements of Sir James, including composing music for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II; commends Sir James for his work, and wishes him the very best for the future.
