West Lothian Teenager Kara Young Selected to Box for Scotland in Hungary

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates 14-year-old Kara Young from Broxburn on being selected to box for Scotland at the prestigious 73rd Gergely Bornemissza Memorial International Boxing Tournament in Hungary in May 2024; understands that Kara started boxing when she was 10 years old, after developing a passion for the sport just before the COVID-19 pandemic; further understands that her father built a gym for her in their garden, so that she could pursue her dream; recognises the help and support received from her coaches at Broxburn Boxing Club over the years, which, together with what it considers to be her determination and dedication to the sport, has seen her internationally selected, after only four years of training; understands that her goal is to one day compete in the Olympics, and wishes her continued success in her sporting endeavours.
