Clackmannanshire Firefighter Joins Colleagues on a 600-mile Charity Cycle Challenge

The motion

That the Parliament commends a Clackmannanshire firefighter who is taking part in a 600-mile cycle challenge to support the mental wellbeing of colleagues; understands that Matthew Gibb, who is based at Alloa Community Fire Station, is taking part in the Eastern Promise charity cycle event in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity and Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide; acknowledges that the Alloa firefighter is part of a team of current and former members of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service who are in progress with their goal to cover around 600 miles in seven days; understands that the challenge saw around 15 riders setting off from Tyndrum Community Fire Station on 20 May 2024, with a planned finish at Edinburgh Castle on 26 May 2024, after following a route in the east of Scotland that covers an average of 100 miles a day and takes in a scenic route around Fife, Falkirk and West Lothian; notes that, thereafter, the riders will follow the road through Midlothian, East Lothian and the Scottish Borders before arriving back at Edinburgh Castle; sends its very best wishes to all participants, and commends everyone involved in this significant and highly magnanimous endeavour.
