Equi-Power Riding for the Disabled finalist in SCVO Small Charity of the Year
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that an organisation, which helps disabled school pupils across Stirling and Clackmannanshire, has been shortlisted at the Scottish Charity Awards; believes that Equi-Power Riding for the Disabled, which is a member of the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), British Equestrian Vaulting (BEV), Club Sport Stirling, Forth Valley Disability Sport, and Horsescotland, has been recognised as a finalist in the SCVO Small Charity of the Year category; understands that whilst supporting disabled riders across the central belt, the charity has been heavily involved with Clackmannanshire schools, including Lochies Primary, Alloa Academy and Alva Academy; further understands that it also goes to great lengths to ensure that nobody who wishes to ride horses is left out; notes the hopes of the charity that anyone with a friend or family member who has benefitted from attending a session would have taken a moment to vote for them in the People’s Choice Award; understands that the Scottish Charity Awards are run annually by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) and that they aim to celebrate the very best of the nation's good causes with a judging panel deciding the overall winner of each category, whilst members of the public can have their say by voting for their favourite entry in the People’s Choice Award; highlights that votes had to be submitted by 5.00 pm on 24 May 2024 before the awards ceremony, which is to be held in Glasgow on 20 June 2024; commends the charity on its highly focused and compassionate work, and wishes everyone involved all the very best at the awards ceremony.
