Glasgow Warriors Community Development Work

The motion

That the Parliament commends the Glasgow Warriors Community Development Team for all of its work in the local community around Scotstoun Stadium, Greater Glasgow and beyond; understands that the club has been making particular efforts in the 2023-24 season to strengthen links with primary and secondary schools and charities in the surrounding area; further understands that the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity is the official charity partner of Glasgow Warriors, with the team supporting the charity with visits to the hospital, tickets for games and merchandise to help their fundraising and providing social media support around their events and campaigns; understands that the club also supports numerous other charities across Glasgow in line with the club’s vision to make a "tangible difference in the lives of people in our city, the west, and Caledonia"; further understands that, amongst other achievements over the last year, the club has donated 390 match tickets to local schools and charities, raised £47,825 for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, made 30 visits to rugby clubs and schools, planted 85 trees and shrubs in Victoria Park, facilitated more than 2,000 club and school pupils taking part in match days and SP Energy Networks Warriors Championships, and 160 school pupils taking part in SP Energy Network Stem Workshops; congratulates the team on all the work that it has has done so far to make a difference to the local community, and wishes Glasgow Warriors Community Development Team continued success as it builds upon its community projects.
