The motion

That the Parliament congratulates three East Ayrshire Schools on achieving Gold School Sport Awards; notes that Hurlford Primary School, James Hamilton Primary School and Loudon Academy are among the award recipients; understands that the sportscotland award is funded by the National Lottery and is a national initiative designed to encourage schools to put young people at the heart of decision making, planning and implementation of extra-curricular school sport; further understands that the award also encourages schools to self-reflect and continuously improve, recognise and celebrate successful school sport models, and encourages sporting links between schools and the communities around them, providing opportunities for young people to progress; believes that participation in sport as a young person helps encourage children to develop real world skills, such as positive coping techniques, interpersonal skills, managing their health, and more; congratulates each school on its award, and wishes them well as they continue to develop their excellent school sport offerings.
