Duncan Scott's Eighth Swimming Medal makes him Scotland's most Decorated Olympian
The motion
That the Parliament honours the outstanding achievements of Scotland's most decorated Olympian, Duncan Scott; congratulates the super swimmer from Alloa and his coach, Steven Tigg, from the National Swimming Academy at the University of Stirling, on the remarkable achievement of eight Olympic medals, making Duncan Scott Scotland's most decorated Olympian at the age of 27; considers that Duncan's unprecedented Olympic career record of individual and relay Team GB Olympic medals is matched only by his commitment to inspiring the next generation of swimmers in Scotland and advocating for the considerable health and wellbeing benefits of swimming for all, as one of Scottish Swimming's Learn to Swim Ambassadors, and calls on the Scottish Government to ensure that Duncan Scott's incredible achievements have an enduring legacy by engaging with Scottish Swimming and others on what Scotland needs to do to achieve ongoing competitive success into the future, and to ensure that the immediate benefits of swimming are accessible to everyone across Scotland.
