Glasgow Pub with Over 100 Years of History Nominated for a Top Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Kelvingrove Cafe in the West End of Glasgow on reaching the finals of the Scottish Pub and Bar Awards 2024; understands that the venue has been nominated for an accolade in the Brugal 1888 Cocktail Bar of the Year category; notes that, as a category C listed building, the Victorian cafe opened its doors in 1896 as a lunch spot and ice cream parlour for Glaswegians visiting the brand new Kelvingrove Park nearby; understands that the awards, which are run by the industry magazine, DRAM, are Scotland's longest-running hospitality awards; acknowledges that the ceremony for the 2024 event will take place in Glasgow on 27 August, and recognises that other finalists in the city include Kitty O’Shea’s and Waxy O’Connor’s, which have been nominated for the Jameson Best Irish Bar award.
