Glasgow Tailors Partnership with Mental Health Charity
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Suited and Booted, a Glasgow bespoke tailors and gents fashion brand, which has teamed up with Glasgow-based charity, Men Matter Scotland, to create a new initiative that aims to help men prepare for job interviews and dress for success as they enter into new employment; believes that for those job seeking or re-entering into the workforce after time away, it is important that men feel good about themselves and a new suit can make a difference, boosting self esteem; understands that Suited and Booted is asking its customers, stakeholders and friends of the brand to donate unworn and unwanted suits to the store that will then be gifted to the charity to distribute to its network; further understands that in return for donating a suit, each person will be given a £100 voucher to spend on bespoke or ready to wear suits at the store; notes that Men Matter Scotland was founded in 2019 and its mission is to support men’s mental health and wellbeing and prevent suicide; understands that the charity focuses on creating an environment that promotes connection and possibility for those in need and that from its centre in Drumchapel, it offers weekly group sessions and activities in groups so that members can talk to other men who have first-hand lived experience of similar situations, as well as peer to peer sessions and an expert referral service designed specifically for when men are in distress, and further understands that over 3,500 men in Glasgow are actively using the service.
