The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Nadara on launching the UK’s first Sustainable Windfarm Decommissioning Strategy, in partnership with ReBlade; notes that this will bring together two industry leaders with a shared commitment to sustainability, setting a new benchmark for environmental stewardship and socioeconomic enhancement for Beinn Ghlas Wind Farm in Argyll; understands that Nadara is the largest independent power producer of onshore wind in Europe, while ReBlade, a young company with its roots and its supply chain operating in Dumfries and Galloway, is the country’s first specialist wind turbine decommissioning service and is currently working with around 10 local businesses to develop a wind industry centre of excellence in the south of Scotland, and believes that the new strategy will form a critically important chapter in the Beinn Ghlas repowering planning application, exploring circular destinations for the decommissioned material that will be removed from the site, which is one of the oldest wind farms in the UK, having begun operations in May 1999 and providing an overall capacity of 8.4MW.
