The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the decision by HALO Invest, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Sydney-based fintech firm, HALO Technologies, to establish an operations and development centre in Glasgow; recognises that this investment will create over 60 new jobs in the city over the next two years, contributing to what it sees as Glasgow’s growing reputation as a hub for financial services and technology; notes that the project, with an estimated cost of £8 million, is being supported by £800,000 of grant funding from Scottish Enterprise, and congratulates Douglas Boyce, the newly appointed chief executive officer of HALO Invest, on choosing Glasgow as the ideal location due to what it considers to be its well-established mix of financial services and fintech talent, further strengthening Scotland’s position in the global fintech industry.
