Billy Bremner Plaque Unveiled in Raploch, Stirling

The motion

That the Parliament praises the Scottish Football Supporters Association (SFSA), in partnership with Leeds United Supporters Groups, University of Stirling, Raploch Community Council and the local community, on the unveiling of a plaque to mark the former home of Billy Bremner at 35a Weir Street, Raploch, Stirling; notes that Billy was a Scottish professional footballer who played for Leeds United from 1959 to 1976, where he served as captain from 1965 through the club's most successful period, winning two League Championship medals and one FA Cup-winner's medal; further notes that Billy, who also played for Hull City, represented Scotland at international level, captaining the country at the 1974 World Cup; recognises that he subsequently managed Doncaster Rovers and Leeds United; notes that Billy Bremner was born in Stirling in 1942 and grew up in the Raploch area, attending St Mary's Primary and St Modan's High schools, and acknowledges that the plaque was officially unveiled on 5 September 2024 by Eddie Gray, who was a long-time teammate and friend of Billy and that another friend and teammate, Jimmy Bone, was also in attendance.
