GRAHAM Launches the ConstructHER Programme to Inspire Glasgow’s Next Generation of Female Workers

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the contractor, GRAHAM, on designing and launchinga six-month training programme, ConstructHER, which aims to encourage S5 and S6female pupils across Glasgow to pursue a career in construction; notes that,with support from Developing the Young Workforce and the Glasgow Chamber ofCommerce, the programme will enable eight pupils to learn more about the worldof construction by offering an insight into the breadth of roles available,including as town planners, quantity surveyors and site managers; understandsthat it will be delivered at a variety of locations, including in universitiesand colleges and on live construction sites in the city; notes that it has beendesigned to address the gender imbalance in the sector and that the pupils whocomplete it will be fast-tracked to apply for a full-time apprenticeship withGRAHAM, including in engineering, design management, planning, quantitysurveying and administration and document control, and understands thatapplications to apply for a place on it are now open, with places on it beingawarded in October 2024.
