The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges World Mental Health Day 2024, which is a global observance event dedicated to raising awareness about mental health issues, reducing stigma, and promoting mental wellbeing; believes that this important day serves as a reminder that mental health is an essential part of overall health, and it encourages individuals and communities to take actions that support mental health; understands that this event is observed annually on 10 October and that, each year, World Mental Health Day focuses on a specific theme, allowing for in-depth discussions and initiatives related to that theme; notes that, for 2024, the theme is “It is Time to Prioritise Mental Health in the Workplace”, which, it understands, was chosen by a public vote by The World Federation for Mental Health, the founder of World Mental Health Day, and understands that the day was first observed in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH), a global mental health organisation with members and contacts in more than 150 countries, and was established to raise awareness of mental health issues, promote mental health advocacy, and mobilise efforts to support mental wellbeing worldwide.
