Volunteer Derek Traill Awarded Certificate of Appreciation from Cricket Scotland

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Derek Traill on being awarded a certificate of appreciation from Cricket Scotland in recognition of his inspiring work and commitment as a volunteer on behalf of Brechin Buccaneers Cricket Club and Strathmore and Perthshire Cricket Union: acknowledges that Derek played cricket for Aberdeenshire Cricket Club before becoming involved with cricket groundsmanship over 30 years ago; understands that he honed his skills in the role of head groundsman at Sussex County Cricket Club, and that he currently leads the grounds team at Brechin Buccaneers Cricket Club; notes that, due to Derek and the ground team’s hard work and facility improvements, Brechin Buccaneers Cricket Club was recently chosen by Cricket Scotland to host the Scottish Women’s Challenger Cup final; recognises that Derek also volunteers with Strathmore and Perthshire Cricket Union, holding the secretary and disciplinary officer titles, which involves covering cricket clubs across a vast geographical area from Bannockburn to Aberdeenshire, where Derek works tirelessly to share his expert knowledge and love for all things cricket, and congratulates him on his recognition from Cricket Scotland.
