The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that Dollar Horticultural and Garden Club, with Dollar in Bloom, has been highly commended by environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful as part of its Community Engagement Award; understands that this comes only days following the club accepting two accolades at the annual Beautiful Scotland Awards 2024; acknowledges that, as part of the latest efforts to recognise community groups, all members of the Climate and Nature Friendly Communities Network, volunteer judges and assessors visited more than 230 communities over the summer, evaluating their efforts across three pillars, namely horticultural achievement, environmental responsibility and community participation, then identifying examples of best practice, success or innovation across Scotland; further acknowledges that the volunteers then nominated groups in five categories, with the hope that their stories will inspire others; believes that a panel of experts, including representatives from NatureScot and local community groups, met to shortlist and select winners, runners-up and highly commended projects; accepts that the Dollar club’s work has been highly commended, recognising efforts to engage the wider community, creating positive and long-lasting benefits; considers that the efforts of the groups, and all involved in their communities, are truly inspiring, ensuring that their local areas are not only protected but improved for future generations; commends their collective efforts, and acknowledges that the winners in each category have been nominated to represent Scotland at the inaugural UK Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Community Awards.
