National Playlist Day 2024

The motion

That the Parliament recognises that 20 September 2024 was National Playlist Day 2024; understands that National Playlist Day is a UK-wide celebration of the power of meaningful music for those living with dementia; commends the efforts of Playlist for Life in raising awareness of the therapeutic benefits of music for people living with dementia; welcomes support for carers of people with dementia by organisations such as Glasgow South Carers Centre and what it sees as the importance of peer support amongst carers and, in particular, praises the efforts of the wider Dixon Community, based in Govanhill, for their work to support older people and carers, and further welcomes scientific research, which, it understands, demonstrates the psychological benefits of music to people living with dementia and those who support them.
