New Deputy Lieutenants Appointed in the Western Isles

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Christine Galbraith of Ardveenish, Isle of Barra, and Margaret A Mackay from Ness, Isle of Lewis, on their recent appointments as Deputy Lieutenants for the Western Isles; understands that Christine and Margaret will support the work of the Lord-Lieutenant Iain MacAulay, who is His Majesty the King’s representative in the area; believes that the appointments recognise the longstanding hard work and service that Christine and Margaret have dedicated to their local communities in different ways over the years; acknowledges the dedication of the previous occupants of these positions, Elizabeth McAtear, who has served as Deputy Lieutenant since 1998 and Vice Lord-Lieutenant since 2017, and Annie MacSween MBE, who has served as Deputy Lieutenant since 2011, both of whom are to shortly retire from their roles, and wishes Christine and Margaret all the best for the future in their new roles.
