The Ongoing Efforts of the John Rae Society

The motion

That the Parliament marks the 211th anniversary of the birth of renowned Orkney explorer, John Rae, who was born on 30 September 1813; recognises the ongoing efforts of the John Rae Society in commemorating his life, including the recent permission granted to it to preserve and restore his birthplace, the Hall of Clestrain in Orphir; welcomes the relaunch of the John Rae-inspired Northwest Passage Arctic Explorer Gin, with proceeds supporting the Society's work, and encourages members of the public to learn more about the Society's important work honouring and preserving John Rae’s legacy.
