Elgin Scout Group Awarded £13,468 from Asda Foundation

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates 1st Elgin Scouts on being awarded £13,468 from the Asda Foundation, the retailer’s charity organisation, to install wheelchair-friendly facilities at its community woodland space; notes that this will allow more adults and children with disabilities to enjoy a safe educational outdoor area; understands that the money will be used to allow the Scout Group to install a wheelchair-friendly toilet with changing facilities and a walk-in wet room, and that the funding will be overseen by the Community Champion at Asda Elgin; recognises that the 1st Elgin Scouts, which has about 90 young people aged from six to 18 years old, already has portacabins and a covered outside deck with wheelchair ramps and uses the community woodland, which was originally derelict land, for adventurous activities and personal development opportunities, and that the space is also used weekly by a wide range of community groups, and wishes 1st Elgin Scouts well in completing the installation of these facilities and for continued success in the future.
