The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Kilmarnock Harriers on being named Track and Field Club of the Year in the 4J Awards, hosted by Scottish Athletics; understands that the awards celebrate and support those who deliver sporting activities on a weekly basis in Scotland, including officials, coaches, volunteers, and clubs, because “everyone has a role to play”; further understands that Kevin and Gillian Mitchell of Kilmarnock Harriers were shortlisted jointly for Community Club Coach of the Year; notes that, in 2024, Kilmarnock Harriers expanded to operating seven days a week through the development of a partnership with a local college, which brought new student volunteers to the club to serve more young people, while helping to support the students’ learning and development in the workplace; recognises the club for its positive impact on the community, including on children and young people, by expanding opportunities to participate in sport inclusively, which it considers reduces social isolation, improves mental health, and promotes fitness; commends Kilmarnock Harriers on its award and the recognition of its coaches as finalists, and wishes them all the best in the future.
