Lochgilphead Branch of Scottish Women’s Institutes Marks 95th Anniversary

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Lochgilphead branch of the Scottish Women’s Institutes on celebrating its 95th anniversary; understands that the branch was founded in November 1929 with a Mrs Matheson from the Corran listed as its first president; understands that an anniversary event was held by 33 local members at Lochgilphead Parish Church, including current branch president, Debbie Munro, and that it included a celebratory cake baked by member Ishbel Hawson of Polly’s Coffee Stop, which was then cut by the local branch’s longest serving member of 64 years, Lorna McKellar; recognises what it sees as the important work of Scottish Women’s Institutes and its branches, including its mission to connect women locally and nationally to improve their quality of life through friendship, education, sharing and having fun, and wishes the Lochgilphead branch every success for the future.
