The Reverend Neil Norman Gardner LVO

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Reverend Neil Gardner, Domestic Chaplain to His Majesty The King in Scotland and Parish Minister of the Canongate Kirk on becoming a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (LVO); understands that officially created and instituted on 23 April 1896 by letters patent under the Great Seal of the Realm by Queen Victoria, the Royal Victorian Order is an order of knighthood awarded by the sovereign of the United Kingdom and several Commonwealth realms and is granted personally by the monarch on recognition of personal service to the monarchy, the Royal Household, royal family members, and the organisation of important royal events; acknowledges that born and brought up in East Lothian, Reverend Neil Gardner, MA BD DL was inducted to Canongate Kirk in June 2006 after seven years as minister of Alyth Parish Church in Perthshire following service with the Royal Army Chaplains’ Department in the Regiment of the Black Watch; further acknowledges that Reverend Gardner is also a Board Member of the Priory of Scotland of the Order of St John; understands that St John’s House is also in his parish and that he has been associated with the Order of St John for a number of years before being appointed Dean, and joining the Board of St John Scotland, in 2021, and commends Reverend Gardner on his sterling service to the monarchy, the Kirk, the Order of St John and ultimately to his congregation.
