Celebrating the Reopening of Strathconon Primary School and its Role in the Community

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the community of Strathconon on the successful reopening of Strathconon Primary School, following a state-of-the-art refurbishment, and commends the dedication of the staff, pupils, and local residents, who made the related event a resounding success; recognises the significant role that the school plays in the heart of the rural Ross-shire community, serving not only as an educational facility but also as a vital community hub that brings people together; praises the impressive turnout at the reopening, with over 80 attendees; acknowledges the symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony by James MacKay and Margeret Kirkman, the oldest residents of the glen who attended the school, alongside the youngest resident, Lily Sutherland; notes the efforts of the school in preserving and sharing its history, as demonstrated by the display of photographs and archive materials, and its ongoing commitment to providing a high-quality learning environment for its pupils; highlights what it sees as the importance of maintaining and supporting rural schools, like Strathconon Primary, which are essential in connecting communities and fostering local relationships with other schools across the Highlands, and considers that engagement between the Highland Council and the local community is important in order to ensure the future of Strathconon Primary School, in recognition of its valuable contribution to both education and community life.
