Recognising Farmstrong

Lodged by Craig Hoy (Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party) Standard Motion 23 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the work of Farmstrong Scotland, which recently held the event, Blether Together Live, which was aimed at providing an opportunity for people in the farming industry to take a break from their work, meet others and enjoy an evening of food, conversation and inspiring stories; notes that the organisation helps farmers, crofters and their families cope with the ups and downs of farming and crofting by sharing things that they can do to look after themselves and the people in their business; recognises the importance of its peer-to-peer led programme, which is driven by scientific information and real-life stories, to allow farmers to share, learn and support their wellbeing; welcomes its efforts in challenging what it sees as harmful legislation that impacts on their livelihoods; believes that, without farmers, Scotland cannot survive and could not be able to provide the food and other produce needed in the supply chain, and considers that farmers are the backbone of the country and that they should not be penalised by what it sees as policies such as the so-called family farm tax or unduly burdensome Scottish Government regulation and costs.
