Education in Pakistan
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the Scottish Government’s educational links with Pakistan and believes that both countries can learn from each other; understands that children and families from the poorest communities in Pakistan, including from religious minorities, can find it difficult to access quality education; congratulates Starfish Asia on its 25 years of support for primary school children in the poor, slum communities of Pakistan; understands that Starfish Asia has grown out of a small network of local change makers; recognises that it now supports 48 schools and four provisions for disabled and vulnerable young people, providing daily education for around 10,000 children in predominantly poorer, Christian communities, and understands that it is holding a number of events, including in the Scottish Parliament, to raise awareness of its work amid a challenging economic climate for all charities.
