Brain Awareness Week 2025
The motion
That the Parliament notes that Brain Awareness Week 2025 takes place between 10 to 16 March; understands that Brain Awareness week is a global campaign to foster public enthusiasm and support for brain science; believes that this presents an opportunity for organisations, such as Alzheimer Scotland and Brain Health Scotland, to spread the message about the importance of looking after brain health and prevent the development of brain conditions, such as dementia; considers that lifestyle has a profound impact on brain health and that taking the right steps to reduce the risks to brain health could help to prevent up to 45% of dementias; understands that this year’s theme is “Never too early, never too late” with a focus on supporting these messages for children and young people and their parents; acknowledges what it sees as Brain Health Scotland’s "STARS: My Amazing Brain" programme as a valuable tool to support children to understand the importance of brain health and healthy habits to promote good brain health; commends the work of organisations, such as Alzheimer Scotland, that play an important role in promoting brain health and dementia prevention strategies, and notes the need to encourage people across Scotland to engage in events being held in their community to mark Brain Awareness Week.
