Congratulating the East Lothian Courier

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the East Lothian Courier on being named the biggest-selling weekly newspaper in Scotland; recognises the vital role that locally based newspapers across south Scotland play in keeping communities informed, connected and engaged with local issues; acknowledges the importance of high-quality local journalism in providing a platform for community voices; understands that the East Lothian Courier recorded an impressive average weekly print sale of more than 6,000 copies in 2024, demonstrating the strength of community and local news readership in East Lothian; recognises the hard work and dedication of the editorial, reporting, advertising and production teams, which ensure that both the newspaper and its digital platforms continue to deliver timely and relevant news to the community, and commends the East Lothian Courier for what it sees as its continued commitment to serving readers across East Lothian with trusted, high-quality journalism.
