The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the creation of a structured construction pathway through National 5 qualifications, including Creative Industries in Roof Slating, Creative Industries in Stone Carving and Reimagining Spaces for students in Edinburgh; notes that these provide hands-on experience and a direct route into the construction industry; recognises what it sees as the success of the pilot programmes, with one young person already securing an apprenticeship in roof slating and tiling; welcomes the upcoming construction skills demonstration on the lawn of the  Parliament, which is scheduled for 14 and 15 May 2025, where young people undertaking these courses will assist tradespeople in showcasing their construction skills; believes that these pathways are important in addressing skills shortages and promoting careers in construction, and commends all those involved in supporting and delivering this initiative, which, it understands, is generating significant interest across Scotland.
