Wildfire Awareness

The motion

That the Parliament supports the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with the launch of itswildfire prevention campaign to highlight the risk of these fires, which, it believes,are an increasing issue in Scotland, impacting on property, infrastructure, theenvironment and the economy; understands that these fires place a strain onresources, which may be required elsewhere, and pose a threat to firefightersand communities; believes that the public can play a crucial role inpreventing wildfires from damaging wildlife, the environment and ruralcommunities, and encourages the public to stay alert to wildfires thisspring period, as it understands that figures show that almost 80% of largeoutdoor fires since 2010 were recorded between March and May.
