Best Changing Places Toilet in Scotland

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the changing places toilet at the Green Welly Stop in Tyndrum on being awarded Best Changing Places Toilet in Scotland by Changing Places UK; recognises that the facility was officially opened following a dedicated seven-year campaign led by Sarah Heward, founder and co-owner of the Real Food Café; acknowledges the vital role played by the Tyndrum Infrastructure Group (TIG), in partnership with the Green Welly Stop, in delivering the project; commends the Green Welly Stop for generously providing the land and committing to the long-term care and maintenance of the facility; understands that the project was made possible thanks to funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, distributed by Stirling Council, alongside contributions from the Hugh Fraser Foundation, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, and the Forth Valley and Lomond Community Led Local Development Fund; notes that the changing places toilet includes essential features such as a changing bed, hoist, privacy screen and accessible shower, making it suitable for disabled people and those with complex care needs for whom standard accessible toilets are inadequate; understands that, until now, there were no such facilities for disabled people across a vast area of the west of Scotland, limiting travel, access and inclusion, and praises this achievement as a powerful example of community determination and collaboration to make Tyndrum and the wider region more accessible and inclusive for all.
