Parkinson’s Scottish International Open 2025
The motion
That the Parliament commends the Parkinson’s Scottish Table Tennis Association, Table Tennis Scotland and Parkinson’s UK Scotland for the success of the Parkinson’s Scottish International Open 2025, which took place on 16 and 17 August at Inverclyde Sports Centre; congratulates the 80 players who took part, and those who won medals; celebrates that competitors represented Hungary, Spain, Poland, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Ireland, England, Northern Ireland, and Scotland, with several Scottish players among the medallists; believes that regular physical activity can help people to manage their Parkinson’s symptoms, improve mental health and may even slow the progression of Parkinson's; values the partnership between Table Tennis Scotland and Parkinson’s UK Scotland, which is delivering opportunities for people with Parkinson’s to play table tennis in a supportive community setting, with nine dedicated Parkinson’s table tennis sessions and four Parkinson’s-friendly sessions taking place across Scotland, including the weekly Drumchapel Parkinson's Table Tennis Group at the Drumchapel Sports Centre, Glasgow, and looks forward to further growth in Parkinson's table tennis in Scotland.
