Glasgow Business Awards 2025, Honouring Sir Jim McDonald GBE
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Professor Sir Jim McDonald GBE on being honoured with the Glasgow Business Award for Lifetime Achievement; recognises what it sees as his outstanding leadership as principal and vice-chancellor of the University of Strathclyde, where he served from 2009 until his retirement in 2025; further recognises his significant contributions to engineering, education and energy, including his presidency of the Royal Academy of Engineering and his efforts to advance Scotland’s technological and economic development, and acknowledges his enduring commitment to Glasgow, fostering innovation, civic engagement and the development of future leaders, while leaving a lasting legacy at Strathclyde and across the city.
